Founded in Darfield, in the idyllic North Thompson valley, British Columbia, Salt Lick BBQ is a food truck serving up gourmet BBQ, featuring local, sustainable, and homegrown ingredients wherever possible.
We are now located on the beautiful coast of Vancouver Island between Comox and Campbell River.

ABOUT US
Salt Lick BBQ opened in 2020 and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Dustin and Lena Rainer. Dustin is a third generation farmer and rancher in the North Thompson valley. He has been farming ever since he could walk and developed an unrivalled passion for great food throughout his life. Raising and growing his own food, and providing his family with fresh, home-cooked meals has been a privilege for Dustin for a long time now. Building their own food truck “from scratch”, and serving their own homegrown beef and chicken as well as vegetables as the season allows, gives Dustin and Lena the opportunity to serve more people and introduce them to fresh, homegrown, down-to-earth food that is smoked, cooked and prepared with love.
Over the years we shifted our focus to serving more people at festivals and fairs, as well as focusing on the catering aspect of the business. At the end of 2025 we had to say good bye to the beautiful North Thompson Valley as we relocated to Vancouver Island. We will attempt to keep true to our original promise of serving local and homegrown food wherever we can. Our food will still be handmade with the same love and care you came to appreciate over the last 6 years.

OUR MENU
Our menu is always based on local meat and fresh vegetables whenever available. It changes throughout the season but you will always find the best smoked meats and other customer favourites on it.

We have catering spaces left for 2025! Book 'em up before they're gone.
We love providing people with great food. It is the reason why we got into the business in the first place.
A new year, a new season with our food truck and catering business. Next to our regular scheduled days we are happy to provide you with excellent catering.
We have everything to set up a beautiful buffet for your event and can serve if requested. We do not provide plates and silverware but can help you source those. As much as we would love to come to your event with the food truck, this is often not feasible for us, but if its local, lets talk!
